Lesley Lewis (harpsichord/woodwind/choir)

Lesley Lewis has established herself as an identity in the teaching and performance of early music in Adelaide and nationally. The University Waits and Elder Baroque Ensemble were products of her innovation that spawned and developed an ongoing stream of students and performers, many of whom are now distinguished artists and teachers in their own right.

In 1995 she was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for extensive research in early music institutions and courses in the United Kingdom and Europe. In that same year she premiered a new work for harpsichord by David Morgan specifically written for her Schaumlöffel harpsichord.

As a founding member of Adelaide Baroque Inc and its lead ensemble Musica da Camera, Lesley performs and broadcasts regularly and has successfully toured Hong Kong, China and the United Kingdom with the ensemble. Her recordings include a CD of Telemann Duos for Recorders with Jo Dudley and Musica da Camera's first CD of the same name.

Tessa Miller (soprano)

Tessa Miller is an experienced soloist in a wide range of styles from opera, oratorio and operetta, to musicals, popular and contemporary song, and is a specialist in Baroque music. In 1991 Tessa was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to undertake studies in early Music in the United Kingdom, and in 1995 received a scholarship for concentrated studies of Baroque technique in Amsterdam. Tessa's many performance highlights include appearances in the Melbourne International Festival of Organ and Harpsichord, the International Barossa Music Festival and the Adelaide Festival, as well as performing and presenting Early Music workshops in Hong Kong in recent years.

Lucinda Moon (violin)

Lucinda Moon studied at the Victorian College of the Arts with Nelli Shkolnikova and Miwako Abe and went on to postgraduate studies in baroque violin at the Royal Conservatorium in The Hague with Sigiswald Kuijken. A prizewinner at the 1995 Bruges Early Music Competition, Lucinda returned to Australia and was appointed Concertmaster of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra.

As principal violinist of the Elysium Ensemble, Chacona and The Musicke Roome trio (Stockholm), she has performed and toured throughout Australia and to festivals in Sweden, Germany and Mexico.

In 2004 she was Guest Concertmaster with the Pacific Baroque Orchestra (Vancouver), tutor at the University of British Columbia, and performed with the Orchestra of the 18th Century in The Netherlands and Poland. In January 2005 Lucinda will return to Canada to perform as soloist with the Pacific Baroque Orchestra. Lucinda plays on an Italian violin, originally made circa 1700 by Giofredo Cappa, Saluzzo, Italy.

Lynton Rivers (recorder)

Lynton Rivers teaches at the South Australian Department for Education and Childrens Services. He is also chief examiner in Recorder for the Australian Music Examinations Board. He studied recorder in Amsterdam with Marion Verbruggen and in Vienna with Hans Maria Kneihs as a recipient of an Australia Council grant. Lynton tutors regularly Australian Recorder Festivals and workshops. He performs regularly in Australia, UK, Sweden and Hong Kong.

Jayne Varnish (recorder)

Jayne began her music studies on the clarinet, but during her Bachelor of Music Degree at the Elder Conservatorium she transferred to the recorder. During 1980 and 1981 she studied recorder with Marion Verbruggen in Amsterdam. Jayne is a teacher from primary to tertiary levels, with a strong interest in teaching young musicians. Jayne is a regular tutor for Adelaide Baroque workshops and performer for Viva Baroque! ensemble that performed for Music Viva in School's program from 1998-2001. Jayne currently teaches at Seymour College and is a regular guest with Adelaide Baroque. Jayne is in demand as a recorder teacher her and her expertise often given at Recorder Society events.

Helen Rusak M.A. AmusA

Helen Rusak has over 20 years experience as a piano and keyboard teacher having taught at for Vera Tancibudek, Walford Anglican Girls Grammar School, at her private studio and established her own business Magill Music focusing on keyboard classes.

Amelia Monaghan

Amelia Monaghan studied the recorder at the Elder Conservatorium of Music with Lesley Lewis. She graduated with an honours degree in music performance in 1994. She has performed widely in South Australia with a variety of musical groups including Adelaide Baroque and the Australian Dance Theatre. She currently divides her time between teaching the recorder privately and as a classroom music teacher at Fremont-Elizabeth City High School, one of Adelaide's Special Interest Music Centres.

Adelaide Baroque Ensemble

Ben Dollman (violin)

Ben Dollman began studying baroque violin and period performance practice at Indiana University, USA, under the tutelage of Stanley Ritchie, and continued this work to complete an honours degree with Lucinda Moon at the University of Adelaide. He now holds the position of Principal 2nd Violin with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and has performed widely throughout Australia and internationally. He also performs regularly with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Adelaide Baroque.

Emma Luker (violin)

Emma Luker is an accomplished violinist and "fiddle" player who completed her Bachelor of Music in Performance in 2003, and who recieved the Ellen Sauer Orchestral Scholarship in 2002. Emma is a member of Adelaide baroque quartet 'con brio!' as well as touring the UK, Canada and New Zealand with the folk-based group 'Colcannon'. Emma also teaches violin in several schools, as well as performing regularly around Adelaide in many different styles of music, from baroque to classical to contemporary folk.

Anna Webb (viola)

Anna Webb graduated with Honours from the Elder Conservatorium, Adelaide. She has performed for the Adelaide and Barossa Festivals, Adelaide Fringe, St Magnus Festival, Scotland and the International Guitar Festival, Darwin. She has toured Europe and the South Pacific and attended mastercourses with Bruno Giuranna, the Takacs Quartet and the Australian String Quartet. She has appeared with the Zephyr Quartet in Musica Viva's ménage and In Schools programs. She teaches violin, viola, recorder and theory of music. She also holds BA majors in German and Japanese with internationally recognised certificates of proficiency. She is currently undertaking a graduate diploma in Education.

Zoë Barry (cello)

Zoë Barry is completing her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Adelaide. She was awarded the Technical Schools Music Travel Scholarship and studied and performed in the UK and Ireland. She has furthered her studies in Indonesia, Russia and Greece. She performs in a variety of ensembles including the Serenata Trio, Bergerac, Compages, Adelaide Baroque, Viva Baroque!, The Adelaide Chamber Singers and Syntony. Zoë is a composer and has written for the Zephyr Quartet, Terrace Singers, South Australian State Theatre Company, Restless Dance Company and Knee-high Puppeteers.
